Calella

The Calella Lighthouse is situated in the coastal town of Calella in Costa del Maresme, Catalonia, Spain, approximately 58 kilometers northeast of Barcelona. It was built in 1859, with construction beginning on October 9, 1856, under the supervision of engineer Marià Parellada. The lighthouse was officially inaugurated on December 15, 1859.

The lighthouse features a cylindrical tower with a double balcony and lantern, standing at a height of 13 meters, with a focal height of 50 meters above sea level. The light can be seen for a range of 18 nautical miles. Initially, the lamp used oil, later transitioning to paraffin and petrol, before being electrified in 1927. The lighthouse is currently active and managed by the Autoridat Portuària de Barcelona.

The Calella Lighthouse has a rich history, with its original 3rd order Fresnel lens still in use. The lighthouse has undergone changes over the years, adapting to new technologies and energy sources. Today, it remains an important aid to navigation and a notable landmark in the region, offering a glimpse into the maritime history of Catalonia.

It lies on the Mediterranean. It has a cylindrical tower with double balcony and lantern tower. The tower is built of masonry. Its daymark is white tower, glass lantern. The light has a focal height of 50 metres. The light has a range of 18 nautical miles. Its light characteristic is Fl (3+2) W 20s. It carries an original 3rd order Fresnel lens. It is managed by Autoridat Portuària de Barcelona.
