The Cap Blanc Lighthouse is located in Mauritania, specifically on Ras Nouadhibou, near the border with Western Sahara. It was constructed in 1910 and serves as a landfall light for the port of Nouadhibou. The lighthouse is situated in the southwest of Nouadhibou and is an active aid to navigation.
The Cap Blanc Lighthouse has undergone changes over the years, recently being incorporated as the rear range light of a pair of leading lights, with a modern fiberglass light structure forming the front of the range. It stands near the border with Western Sahara, only a few feet away. There is another lighthouse nearby, the Pointe de Cansado lighthouse, which was built in 1913, a few kilometers northeast.
The Cap Blanc Lighthouse has an interesting history, having been built during the colonial era. Today, it remains an important aid to navigation, guiding vessels into the port of Nouadhibou. Despite its age, the lighthouse continues to be an active and vital part of the region's maritime safety infrastructure.
