The Capo dell'Arma Lighthouse is an active lighthouse located in northwestern Italy, near the village of Bussana in the comune of Sanremo, in the province of Imperia. The lighthouse was first built by Civil Engineers in 1912 and was electrified in 1936. However, it was completely destroyed by German retreating troops during World War II.
The lighthouse was rebuilt by the Navy and completed in 1948. It is a cylindrical tower with a balcony and lantern on the roof of a two-story keeper's house, standing at a height of 15 meters with a focal height of 50 meters. The lighthouse is completely controlled and operated by the Command Area Lighthouses Navy based in La Spezia. The Marina Militare is responsible for managing all the lights on an approximate 8000 kilometers of Italian coastline.
The Capo dell'Arma Lighthouse has an interesting history, being the first lighthouse on the Ligurian coast, starting from the French border. It plays a significant role in illuminating this part of the sea border and is currently automated. The lighthouse is managed by the Marina Militare, which has been responsible for managing all the lighthouses in Italy since 1910. With its white tower and white and black horizontal band keeper's house, the Capo dell'Arma Lighthouse is a notable landmark in the region.
