The North Head Lighthouse is located in Saldanha, Western Cape, South Africa, on the northern side of the Saldanha Bay entrance. The first lighthouse was built in 1939 and consisted of a 300mm AGA acetylene gas lantern mounted on a square concrete pillar. This original lighthouse had a small diaphone fog signal and was later replaced by a new aluminium tower in 1969, approximately 100 metres from the previous location.

The current lighthouse is a cylindrical tower with a balcony and small lantern, featuring black and white spiral bands and a white lantern. It stands at a height of 21 metres and has a focal height of 32 metres. The lighthouse is equipped with a 250 mm catadioptric lens and has an intensity of 511,000 candela, with a range of 23 nautical miles. The lighthouse is fully automatic and powered by triple mutual diesel/alternator sets, and is monitored at Cape Columbine.

The North Head Lighthouse has an interesting history, with two separate structures being built to serve as a guide for ships entering Saldanha Bay. The current lighthouse has been in operation since 2005 and continues to play an important role in ensuring the safe passage of vessels in the area. Today, the lighthouse remains an important part of South Africa's maritime history and a notable landmark in the region.
