Pointe Fantasque Lighthouse

The Pointe Fantasque Lighthouse is located on the island of La Gonâve, which is situated west-northwest of Port-au-Prince in the Gulf of Gonâve, Haiti. The lighthouse has a concrete base and is a metal skeletal tower with a square pyramidal shape and a balcony and light. The tower is white in color.

La Gonâve Island has a rich and varied history, with the island being uninhabited by colonists during the colonial period, leading the indigenous Taínos to seek refuge there. The island was also a haven for runaway slaves during the French period. The island has been under Haitian control since Toussaint Louverture and the Constitution of 1801.

The island has a unique cultural system, with a matriarchal system of societies and queens that governed the island independently of Haiti. In 1926, US Marine Sergeant Faustin E Wirkus became involved in local affairs and was proclaimed King Faustin II in a Vodou ceremony. The lighthouse itself does not have a detailed history, but it is an important part of the island's infrastructure and plays a crucial role in guiding vessels through the Gulf of Gonâve.
