The first lighthouse was established in 1855, but the current lighthouse was built in 1966. The lighthouse consists of a masonry square prism turret, 20 meters high, with three semicircular balconies and a lantern on top, rising from a 2-storey keeper's house.
The lighthouse is an active aid to navigation, emitting two long white flashes in a 10-second period, visible up to a distance of 16 nautical miles. The light is positioned 45 meters above sea level. The lighthouse is completely automated and managed by the Marina Militare with the identification code number 1437 E.F. The current lighthouse replaced the first one, which was built in 1325 by the will of the Aragonese Admiral Carroz who conquered the region in that period.
