The Punta Varo Lighthouse is located on the island of Zannone in the Pontine Islands on the Tyrrhenian Sea in Lazio, Italy. It was built in 1858, although some sources may indicate 1884. The lighthouse features a masonry octagonal tower that is 13 meters high, rising from a 1-storey keeper's house. The tower is painted white, and the lantern dome is grey metallic.
The light is positioned 37 meters above sea level and emits three white flashes in a 10-second period, visible up to a distance of 11 nautical miles. The lighthouse is completely automated and managed by the Marina Militare with the identification code number 2262 E.F.
The lighthouse has an interesting history, and its automated system suggests it has undergone modernization over time. The precise year of construction may be disputed, with 1858 and 1884 being mentioned. Regardless, it remains an essential aid to navigation in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
