San Giacomo Lighthouse

The San Giacomo Lighthouse is located in Licata, Sicily, Italy, at the root of the east wharf of the commercial harbour on the Channel of Sicily. It was built in 1953, although the original project was designed by Antonino Davanteri in 1895. The lighthouse has a cylindrical tower that is 37 meters high with a balcony and lantern, atop a quadrangular base.

The tower is made of concrete and has a distinctive appearance with an unpainted white concrete tower, dark grey and white trim base, and a grey metallic lantern dome. The lighthouse is 40 meters above sea level and emits one white flash in a five-second period, visible up to a distance of 25 nautical miles. The light is completely automated and managed by the Marina Militare with the identification code number 2954 E.F.

The San Giacomo Lighthouse takes its name from the homonymous castle that once stood on the site, but was later destroyed to make room for the seaport.
