Stavenes Lighthouse is located in Averøy Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The lighthouse sits on the Stavneset peninsula on the northeastern coast of the island Averøya, along the Bremsnesfjorden. This strategic location allows it to mark the entrance to the fjord, which is near the port of the city of Kristiansund.
The lighthouse was originally built in 1842 and rebuilt in 1894. It is an 8-meter tall masonry tower with a square shape and a red lantern on top. The tower is painted white and has a focal height of 21.7 meters above sea level. The lighthouse was automated in 1976 and emits a white, red, or green light that occults in groups of three every 10 seconds.
The lighthouse has an interesting history, having been rebuilt and automated over the years. It is still in use today, although it does not burn during the summer months due to the midnight sun. The light burns from 16 July until 21 May every year, making it an important aid to navigation for ships entering the fjord. With its unique location and historic significance, Stavenes Lighthouse is a notable landmark in Norway's coastal landscape.
