Stražica Lighthouse

The Stražica Lighthouse is located on the island of Prvić in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia. It was built in 1875 and consists of a small stone house with a 5-meter tall lighthouse tower. The lighthouse has a focal height of 21 meters and a range of 9 nautical miles.

The lighthouse was originally manned by a crew of lightkeepers who were the only inhabitants of the island until it was automated in 1974. Prior to automation, the crew were responsible for maintaining the lighthouse, and the island was considered uninhabited except for the lighthouse crew. In 1993, the lighthouse's natural gas-powered system was replaced with solar panels, and it is now remotely controlled by Plovput, the state-owned company for maritime traffic in Croatia.

The Stražica Lighthouse has an interesting history, with its crew being the only inhabitants of the island until automation in 1974. The island was once believed to be the largest uninhabited Croatian island, but this was later refuted when new measurements were published in 2004. Today, the lighthouse remains an important aid to navigation in the Adriatic Sea, and its historic significance is still recognized.

Description
'''Stražica Lighthouse''' on the island of Prvić in the Adriatic Sea was built in 1875 and consists of a small stone house and a tall lighthouse tower. A crew of lightkeepers were stationed on the island until it was made fully automated in 1974. In 1993 the natural gas-powered system was replaced with solar panels and is today remotely controlled by Plovput, the state-owned company for maritime traffic which controls the entire network of Croatian lighthouses. Until 1974, the lighthouse crew were the only inhabitants of Prvić, and until the early 2000s it was believed that Prvić held the distinction of being the largest uninhabited Croatian island, but this was refuted when new measurements published in 2004 showed that the island of Žut is bigger by some .
