The Villa Lighthouse is located in Trøndelag, Norway, on the island of Villa in the Folda sea. It was built in 1839 and was the first lighthouse in Norway to be constructed north of the Trondheimsfjord. The lighthouse stands at 15 meters tall and features a hexagonal tower made of granite, soapstone, and brick.
The lighthouse was one of six coal-fired lighthouses built in Norway during the 1800s and is considered to be the best preserved of them all. It was upgraded to burn liquid fuels in 1859, but was eventually decommissioned in 1890. The lens from the Villa Lighthouse was moved to the Nordøyan Lighthouse after its closure, and it was replaced by the Ellingråsa Lighthouse on the nearby island of Bjørøya.
The Villa Lighthouse is now managed by the Villa Fyr Venneforening and is a notable example of Norway's lighthouse history. It is a well-preserved example of a 19th-century coal-fired lighthouse and is considered to be an important part of Norway's cultural heritage. Despite being decommissioned, the lighthouse remains an interesting and historic site, offering a glimpse into Norway's maritime past.
