The Vizhinjam Lighthouse, also known as the Trivandrum Lighthouse, is located near Kovalam beach in Kerala, India. It was constructed and started functioning on 30 June 1972. The lighthouse has a cylindrical tower with a height of 36 meters and features red and white bands.

The Vizhinjam Lighthouse is equipped with metal halide lamps and a direct drive mechanism, with the light source being modified on 30 April 2003. The port of Vizhinjam was a busy seaport in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries but fell into a neglected state after the nineteenth century. Before the current lighthouse, there were no lighthouses at this location, although a day mark beacon and a lighted beacon were constructed in the 18th and 20th centuries respectively.

The lighthouse is currently operational and serves as an important aid to navigation for ships and vessels in the area. With its rich history and significant role in maritime safety, the Vizhinjam Lighthouse is a notable landmark in Kerala, India. It stands as a testament to the region's busy seafaring past and continues to play a vital role in ensuring the safety of ships and vessels today.
