The Conche Light is a lighthouse located in Conche, a small town on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The lighthouse was first built in 1914, with the current structure being completed in 1992. The tower is made of aluminum and stands at a height of 6.7 meters (22 feet). The lighthouse is managed by the Village of Conche and serves as a navigational aid for ships and boats in the area.
The Conche Light is situated on the southwestern side of a small bay, providing a sheltered location for the settlement. The surrounding area is characterized by steep cliffs, but the settlement itself is concentrated on gentle slopes and in small coves north and south of the isthmus. The lighthouse has a rich history, dating back to the early 17th century when it was first mentioned on a map by Samuel de Champlain.
Today, the Conche Light remains an important landmark in the region, helping to guide mariners through the area's rugged coastline. Its current status as an active aid to navigation makes it a vital component of the maritime infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador.
