Douglas Head Lighthouse is located on the Isle of Man, between England and Ireland. The lighthouse was established in 1857, although the vicinity had been under the control of the Isle of Man Harbour Board since 1832. The lighthouse was built by the engineering brothers David and Thomas Stevenson, with a total elevation of 32 meters and a white tower that is 20 meters in height.

The lighthouse features a tapered cylindrical tower with a balcony and lantern, and the light flashes white every ten seconds, with an average range of 24 nautical miles. The lantern is composed of eight brilliant reflectors made of pure silver, built in 1831. The lighthouse was automated in 1986 and is currently managed by the Northern Lighthouses Board. The lighthouse has undergone some changes over the years, including a reconstruction in 1892 due to structural problems.

The lighthouse has an interesting history, with its name derived from the Manx language, meaning "Blackstream". The lighthouse is still operational today, with a unique lighting system that uses two double-banked units of twelve lamps, rotated by a gearless drive unit. The lighthouse is also accessible to tourists and sightseers, with a new public footpath constructed to the site. The Commissioners of the Northern Lighthouse, who operate the lighthouse, have ensured that it remains a significant landmark and aid to navigation in the area.
