Fuencaliente

The Fuencaliente Lighthouse is located at the southern end of the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain. The original lighthouse was built in 1903, with a cylindrical stone tower rising from a one-story keeper's house. However, it was severely damaged in an earthquake in 1939 and had to be rebuilt with concrete. The new lighthouse was constructed in 1985, next to the old one, and features a 24-meter tall concrete tower with a double balcony and lantern.

The current lighthouse is managed by the Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is one of the most prominent landmarks on the island. Visitors can access the site, which includes parking spaces, and explore the surrounding area, including the Salinas de Fuencaliente and the village of El Faro. The old keeper's house has been converted into an interpretation centre for the marine reserve, featuring a recreated volcanic cave and a bronze sculpture of a dolphin.

The Fuencaliente Lighthouse is an important aid to navigation, with a range of 14 nautical miles and a characteristic Fl (3) W 18s. It is considered one of the most historic and iconic lighthouses in the Canary Islands, and its two structures, old and new, make it a unique and fascinating sight to behold.
