The Fullerton Light, also known as the Fullerton Hotel Singapore, is located in the Downtown Core area of Singapore. The building was originally constructed between 1924 and 1928 to serve as the General Post Office Building. It was later converted into a hotel, opening its doors on June 27, 1928. The hotel stands at a height of 37 meters and has 9 floors, including 1 basement level.
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is an example of Neo-classical architecture, designed by the architectural firm Keys & Dowdeswell. The building has undergone several renovations, including in 1982 and between 1998-2000, led by architects such as Tay Lee Soon and Evelyn Houng Architects. The hotel has a total floor area of 41,100 square meters and features 14 elevators. It also has a parking capacity of 350 vehicles.
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore has a rich history, having previously housed the General Post Office, the Marine Department, and the Import and Export Department. The building is named after Robert Fullerton, a notable figure in Singapore's history. Today, the hotel is owned by Precious Treasure Pte Ltd and is part of The Fullerton Heritage. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore has been beautifully restored to maintain its original architectural charm, making it a notable landmark in the heart of Singapore.
