Jazireh-ye Farsi Lighthouse

Jazireh-ye Farsi Lighthouse is located on Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Iran's Bushehr province. The island is a small, barren landmass with an area of approximately 0.25 square kilometers and a maximum elevation of 4 meters. The lighthouse has a distinctive square pyramidal tower with a concrete base and a metal skeletal structure, marked by a white and black horizontal band pattern.

The lighthouse is situated on a restricted island with an IRGC Navy base, and its exact status is unclear. However, the surrounding area has a significant history, particularly during the Iran-Iraq War, when the IRGC launched attacks from Farsi Island on vessels of Iraq and its allies. The United States also entered the Persian Gulf to protect Kuwaiti oil shipments, leading to a series of naval incidents in the region.

The island gained international attention in 2016 when Iranian Revolutionary Guards forces apprehended 10 U.S. Navy sailors after they entered Iranian waters. The incident led to talks between the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the U.S. State Department, resulting in the release of the sailors and their vessels the following morning. Despite its strategic location, the lighthouse itself is not a prominent feature of Farsi Island, which remains a restricted and remote outpost in the Persian Gulf.
