The Mouille Point Lighthouse was located in Mouille Point, Cape Town, South Africa, on the northeast side of Table Bay in Granger Bay. It was built in 1842 to address the danger posed by rocks at Mouille Point. This lighthouse was the second to be built in South Africa, following the Green Point Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1824.
The Mouille Point Lighthouse was a round stone tower that stood approximately 11 meters high. Although it was demolished in 1908, its foundation can still be seen in front of the hotel school of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. The lighthouse played a significant role in the maritime history of the region, serving as a vital aid to navigation for ships entering Table Bay.
The Mouille Point Lighthouse is now a part of history, but its legacy lives on as an important landmark in the development of South Africa's maritime infrastructure. It remains a notable example of the country's early lighthouses, and its story continues to be remembered as part of the region's rich history and heritage.
