Piram Island

Piram Island, also known as Piram Bet, is a small island located in the Gulf of Cambay, off the coast of Gujarat, India. The island is situated approximately 7.2 nautical miles from the town of Ghogha, and it covers an area of 186 acres, with half of it being wasteland.

The island has a rich history dating back to the 14th century, when it was under Muslim soldiers of the Delhi Sultanate. In 1325, the island was captured by Mokhadaji Gohil, who made it his headquarters, built a fort, and levied tolls from passing ships. However, he was later attacked and killed by Emperor Muhammad bin Tughluq in 1347, and the fort was destroyed. The island has since fallen into obscurity, although it is believed to have been used as a lighthouse in the past.

Today, the island is privately owned, except for the campus of the lighthouse, which remains the only notable structure on the island. The island is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and is a part of the Bhavnagar district in Gujarat. The official languages spoken on the island are Gujarati and Hindi.
