Point King Lighthouse is located in Princess Royal Harbour, Albany, Western Australia. The lighthouse was first built in 1858 and the second version was completed in 1911, with the current lighthouse being constructed in the early 1910s after automation. The structure is a steel cylindrical tower with a balcony and beacon, standing approximately 9 meters tall and having a focal height of 42 meters. The lighthouse has a range of 12 nautical miles and is marked by a white tower.
The original lighthouse was constructed using a prefabricated wooden tower and was operated manually by a light keeper. It was the first navigational light for the Port of Albany and the second lighthouse built on the West Australian coastline. The lighthouse played a significant role in maritime navigation, especially with the return of the mail boat service from England to the eastern states after the Crimean War.
The Point King Lighthouse has been registered as a State Registered Place on the State Register of Heritage Places since 1996. Today, the lighthouse is managed by the City of Albany, and while its current status is not explicitly stated, it appears to be operational and an important part of Western Australia's maritime history.
