The Pulau Perak Lighthouse is located on Perak Island, a small rocky island in the Strait of Malacca, which constitutes the westernmost extremity of Malaysian territory. The island is part of the state of Kedah, administered under Yan District. It has a diameter of around 200 meters and features a steep cliff with a height of more than 100 meters.

The island was expected to be designated as a marine protected area. Although there is no specific information available on the Pulau Perak Lighthouse itself, the island has been involved in several significant events. In March 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared off the Malaysian radar near the island. More recently, on 25 July 2022, Sultan Sallehuddin of Kedah declared Perak Island as the new reference point for Islamic Calendar calculation.

The current status of the island is that it is a significant location for Malaysia, with its unique geography and strategic position in the Strait of Malacca. The island's history is marked by its role in navigational and maritime activities, and its recent designation as a reference point for Islamic Calendar calculation highlights its importance in the region. Unfortunately, there is limited information available on the Pulau Perak Lighthouse, but the island itself is a notable location with a rich history.
