Store Færder

The Store Færder Lighthouse is located on the island of Store Færder in Færder Municipality, Vestfold county, Norway. The lighthouse was first lit in 1696 and initially used an iron pot placed on the ground as its light source. A stone tower was built later, completed in 1802, and a lens was installed in 1852.

The Store Færder Lighthouse is no longer in operation, having been replaced by the Færder Lighthouse on Tristein in 1857. The stone tower of the Store Færder Lighthouse is now in ruins, but it is listed as a protected site along with the other station buildings. This historic lighthouse has played an important role in the region's maritime history.

Despite its current status as a ruin, the Store Færder Lighthouse remains a notable part of Norway's cultural heritage. Its history dates back to the 17th century, and it is one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. The site is still recognized for its historical significance and is a testament to the region's rich maritime past.
