Ashdod Light

The Ashdod Light is a lighthouse located in Yona Hill, a 53-meter above sea level hill in the northern part of Ashdod, Israel. The lighthouse was built in 1966 as part of the port facilities construction, using a glass optic removed from the Jaffa Light, which was decommissioned in the same year. The lighthouse features a unique design with an upper half that is cylindrical and a lower half that is a triangular prism, marked with an upper half red and white checkerboard and a lower half gray concrete.

The Ashdod Light was listed as active on the NGA List of Lights of 2019 and The Lighthouse Directory's April 2021 update. However, some sources claim that it has been inactive since November 2009. The lighthouse has been featured on an Israeli stamp issued in 2009 and has appeared in many publications as a distinctive mark of the city of Ashdod.

In 2022, the municipality of Ashdod announced plans to establish a youth center at the facility beneath the lighthouse, which will be named after Ilan Gilon, a former member of the Knesset and deputy mayor of Ashdod. The lighthouse is currently closed to the public, but its historical significance and unique design make it a notable landmark in Israel.
