The Phare du Portzic is a lighthouse situated on the north-eastern extremity of the Goulet de Brest in Finistère, France. It is the nearest lighthouse to the town of Brest. The lighthouse is approximately 35 meters tall and has an octagonal tower. Located on the seaward side of the bottleneck entrance to the goulet, it faces the Pointe des Espagnols.
The Phare du Portzic was built on military land in 1848. It was electrified in 1953 and automated in 1994. A semaphore post was set up at its base in 1987 to regulate traffic in and out of the goulet and is still permanently manned. The lighthouse has distinct signal characteristics, including a main light with 2 flashes every 10 seconds, accompanied by 2 twinkling directional lights.
The Phare du Portzic is a notable landmark in the area, with a rich history dating back to its construction in the 19th century. It has played an essential role in guiding navigation through the Goulet de Brest. Today, the lighthouse remains an important aid to navigation and a significant part of the region's maritime heritage.
