Ploumanac'h Lighthouse

The Ploumanac'h Lighthouse is located in Perros-Guirec, Côtes-d'Armor, France, on the Côte de Granit Rose. Built in 1860, the original lighthouse was destroyed by German troops in 1944 and replaced by the current structure in 1946. The current lighthouse is a 49-foot red granite tower with a tapered square shape, featuring a balcony and lantern, and stands at a focal height of 85 feet.

The lighthouse is constructed of pink granite and marks the entrance to the channel leading to the port of Ploumanac'h. The structure was designed by architect Henry Auffret and built by the local construction company Martin et frère. The Ploumanac'h Lighthouse is an active aid to navigation, offering a direct view of nearby landmarks such as Château de Costaérès and l'île Renote.

Today, the lighthouse is closed to the public, but it remains an important part of France's maritime heritage. The official name of the lighthouse, Mean Ruz, translates to "red stone" in Breton, while its common name comes from the nearby town of Ploumanac'h, meaning "monk's pool" in Breton.
