Port Adelaide Lighthouse

The Port Adelaide Lighthouse is located on the North Parade of Port Adelaide in South Australia. It was built in 1869 and originally stood at the entrance to the Port River near Outer Harbor. The lighthouse is a hexagonal tower with a balcony, lantern, and central cylinder, constructed from cast iron with a wooden pile foundation. It stands 25 meters tall and features a red tower and keeper's house, with a white balcony and lantern.

The lighthouse was first lit in 1869 and was later relocated to the Neptune Islands in 1901. It was then moved to its current location in 1986, a year after it was deactivated in 1985. The lighthouse is now a state heritage place, listed on the South Australian Heritage Register since 1980. It is managed by the South Australian Maritime Museum and is occasionally lit on weekends and for special events.

The Port Adelaide Lighthouse offers tours, which can be booked through the SA Maritime Museum. The museum is open from 10am to 5pm every day, except for Christmas Day. The lighthouse has a rich history and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Visitors can climb to the observation deck and take in the sights of the port and the city. The lighthouse is a significant landmark in Port Adelaide and is a popular tourist attraction.
