Harrison Point Lighthouse

Harrison Point Lighthouse is located in the northern Parish of Saint Lucy, Barbados. The lighthouse was built in 1925 and features a cylindrical tower with a balcony and lantern, constructed from concrete block. The tower stands at a height of 26 meters and has a focal height of 59 meters, with a range of 3 nautical miles. The lighthouse is painted white with a red lantern.

The lighthouse has an interesting history, having been the latest of four lighthouses to be built on the island. Its characteristic was two white flashes every 15 seconds before it was temporarily deactivated. The deactivation was likely due to the lighthouse being situated on the grounds of a prison, which led to the tower being abandoned and the keeper's house being ruined.

The lighthouse was reactivated in 2011, with a continuous red light, as confirmed by the Admiralty. Today, the Harrison Point Lighthouse remains a notable landmark in Barbados, with its unique cylindrical shape and historic significance. Despite being temporarily out of use, the lighthouse has resumed its function, serving as a vital aid to navigation for mariners in the area.
