İnceburun Lighthouse

The İnceburun Lighthouse is located in the province of Sinop, Turkey, on the Black Sea coast. It was built in 1863 on İnceburun, which translates to Sharp Cape, and is situated approximately 25 kilometers northwest of Sinop. The lighthouse is an active aid to navigation and is managed by the Directorate General of Coastal Safety.

The lighthouse has a unique design, featuring a 12-meter-tall octagonal prism tower with a gallery around the lantern room, sitting on a square-plan base. The tower is white in color and has a focal height of 26 meters. The lighthouse flashes white four times every 20 seconds. In addition to the tower, the light station includes a one-story keeper's house and three additional buildings.

The İnceburun Lighthouse has an interesting history, with the lighthouse keeping being served by the same family, Family Çilesiz, for five generations. Although the lighthouse is accessible, the tower is currently closed to the public. The lighthouse is a significant tourist attraction in the area and is notable for its historic significance and unique design. It is one of the many lighthouses that line the Black Sea coast of Turkey, serving as an important aid to navigation for mariners.
