Punta La Entallada

Punta La Entallada Lighthouse, also known as La Entallada Lighthouse, is an active lighthouse located on the east coast of Fuerteventura, a Canary island in Spain. The lighthouse was constructed in 1955 by architect Carlos Alcon and features a unique design that incorporates elements of Moorish architecture. The building's exterior is made of contrasting masonry and white-washed mortar, with colored stone originating from the village of Tetir.

The lighthouse is situated on high cliffs, providing a focal height of 196 meters above the sea, which is the third highest in the Canaries. Its light can be seen for 21 nautical miles and consists of three flashes of white light every 18 seconds. The lighthouse is not only an important maritime aid but also has a significant historical importance, having been used as an aerial beacon to direct aircraft towards the Spanish Sahara during the Ifni conflict.

Today, the Punta La Entallada Lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction, offering a viewpoint and car park, with the added distinction of being the closest point in the Canaries to Africa, approximately 100 kilometers to the east. In 2011, the lighthouse was featured on a set of commemorative stamps by the Spanish postal service, Correos. The lighthouse is managed by the Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
